The green monster has been my water toy for a year, now. I am limited to lifting no more than 20 pounds do to a prior spinal injury, and I am able to handle this board just fine! I had some experience with SUP before buying the board, and less surfing experience; at first, I took time to work with the board and get comfortable with how it moves and how far I could lean, etc. It is highly maneuverable, and just the wake of a speed boat is enough to make it start lunging forward to ride the wave; having a light board is quite fun! The board fits inside my Honda Element; that is important to me because I am not supposed to be lifting things overhead, the board is protected during transport, and because my board is pretty much at the ready with me, everywhere I drive. If a client or meeting gets canceled, I have been able to make use of that time with extra fun on the water, because of that. This board is quite a bit smaller than a standard SUP board; some experience is very helpful in managing it, and do pay attention to the weight limit. For those who are also looking for a lightweight option, I do recommend this board. It has held up very well for me with no tears or warping, and the smaller size is also much easier to portage. I prefer this board over my inflatable one, as the process of inflating and deflating and packing up my inflatable one took too much time from actually being on the water, IMO. A family member who has more leisure time prefers the inflatable and doesn’t mind dealing with that as it is easier to handle. Consider your preferences and needs; this board is a great option that continues to bring joy. Investing in neoprene to extend the season and use this as much of the year as possible was an easy decision.
